Our Story

Liberty Baptist Church boasts a rich history that spans generations, deeply intertwined with the fabric of Greensburg, Indiana. Established as a beacon of faith in the community, the roots of this beloved country church can be traced back to a time when the landscape was more rustic and the pace of life was slower. Founded with a Gospel-centered vision, the church has remained steadfast in its commitment to spreading the message of love, hope, and redemption.

Over the years, Liberty Baptist Church has evolved while holding onto its timeless values. It has witnessed the ebb and flow of life, welcoming generations of families through its doors. Its quaint environment and welcoming community have created a space where people not only worship together but also form lasting friendships and bonds.

The history of Liberty Baptist Church is a tapestry woven with stories of dedication, perseverance, and the genuine spirit of a close-knit congregation. From its humble beginnings to its present-day vibrancy, the church continues to stand as a testament to faith, unity, and the power of coming together as a community to celebrate a shared belief in God's love and grace.

Articles of Faith

  • The Trinity
We believe in only one true and living God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost equal in wisdom, power, and glory.
  • Spiritual Authority
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be of divine authority and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
  • Total Depravity
We believe in the total depravity of human nature and that a recovery from that situation is wholly and entirely through the sovereign, free, unmerited grace of God in Chris Jesus.
  • God's Purpose
We believe that God purposed in Himself for His own glory to make a display of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and truth in the mark of His creation which He has made in the dispensation of His providence.
  • God's Redemptive Plan
We believe that God from the beginning purposed to save a people from their sins for His own Name's sake; that in infinite wisdom, He devised the plan and appointed even means necessary to accomplish the great end of their redemption which He effects in His own time by the operation of His Holy Spirit.
  • Justification
We believe that sinners are justified before God alone, by the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. We believe all such are born of the Spirit of God, are kept by the power o God through faith unto eternal salvation.
  • Good Works
We believe that good works are the effects of the faith of God's elect and fellow-beings born of the Spirit of God, and in this point of view are evidences of a gracious state.
  • Christian Ordinances
We believe that Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper are ordinances of the Gospel instituted by Jesus Christ, and none but those who profess faith in Christ ant obedience to His will are fit subjects for either.
  • Sabbath Observance
We believe the sanctity of the first day of the week, or the Lord's Day, should be observed and spent in public or private worship of God, and that we should abstain from our worldly concerns except in cases of necessity or mercy.
  • Resurrection and Judgment
We believe in the resurrection of the body, both of the just and unjust, and that God will judge the world by Jesus Christ whom He has appointed.
  • Eternal Destiny
We believe that the righteous will forever abide in the peaceful presence of God, their Redeemer, and His pardoning grace and forgiving love shall be the theme of their praise while the wicked shall remain in everlasting torment.
